Unexpected Injury

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 31, 2009, 12:06 AM
Soo...guess what. I strained several muscles in my hand and wrist, which is a first for me. I was invited to go boffing for the first time on Saturday. And if that word doesn't ring a bell, just know that we were fighting with foam swords/weapons.
The game we were playing was called 'Monk'. One player, acting as the traveler/monk and armed with a club, fights the other players who are acting as bandits, armed with daggers. My preffered tactic is to sneak up behind the monk while they are preoccupied with another player and stab them in the back.
But for this particular round, I failed to stay unnoticed. The guy playing the monk swung his club around just as I went in for the stab, even though I notice I was no longer the element of surprise. The club struck a square hit on my dagger and nearly knocked it out of my hand. Strangely enouth, I just managed to keep ahold of the pommel.
Unfortunately, though, the power of the strike pushed my thumb past the limit of its natural movement. So I ended up wearing an old wrist brace my parents have lying around their house from my mom's old carpal tunnel surgery for most of today. Luckily, I still retain the ability to draw and will continue to live.

Go on. Give it a whirl:
